Theater Northwest

Tacoma Arts Live’s Regional Theater Program builds community through our season of live, professional theater. We believe in the intrinsic value of creativity and pay all artists for their services. This allows us to attract some of the Pacific Northwest’s best talent to create performances that include and honor all cultures. Our work aspires to refresh audiences by connecting them to a sense of empathy, challenging their complacency, and inspiring them to live with joy and thoughtful inquiry.

Re-Launching Tacoma Arts Live’s theater company: Theater Northwest

Theater Northwest is a community of theater artists – actors, directors, playwrights, theorists, and designers – who unleash their creative talents to share work exploring our shared human condition. This creation is also a refinement of craft, with each new production illuminating a journey through laughter, tears, heartache, and joy.

History

Previously known as Tacoma Arts Live’s Regional Theater Program, the company has produced more than 25 shows since its beginnings in 2009. Past works include diverse offerings August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle, TRIBES by Nina Raine, Grounded by George Brant, and two original works, Baldwin vs Buckley scripted by Brett Carr, and STILL, devised by a team lead by Michael Kula and Maria-Tania Bandes Becerra Weingarden, both UW Tacoma faculty.

All stage work is performed by employees that are represented by IATSE, Local #15
