Status of the Organization

Tacoma Arts Live (TAL) is an independent non-profit organization. We are not – and never have been – run by the City of Tacoma. TAL used to manage the city theaters, and after that contract ended in 2021, TAL moved to its new home in the Tacoma Armory. TAL continued to host occasional events at the Pantages Theater and now only hosts events at the Tacoma Armory.

Receivership is a court-supervised process for addressing the debts of an organization, and it comes with additional tools for navigating our particular challenges. The former board of TAL elected to enter receivership through an assignment for the benefit of creditors voluntarily, and Shelly Crocker LLC was appointed by the Pierce County Superior Court in mid-March. Now run by our receiver, TAL has the chance at a new future.

TAL will continue to offer programs and events at the Tacoma Armory through the end of 2026 through the receivership process. It is possible this date will be extended, and TAL will continue to communicate updates as we know more.

  • ACE: The ACE program was funded through a federal appropriation, which is incredibly rare. Because the funding ended in June 2026, the program has been rescaled. TAL is offering ACE members accessible spaces in the Tacoma Armory for rehearsals, classes, and event rentals at below-market rates.   • Brew 53: TAL is working on a plan to host Brew 53 in the fall of 2026 – stay tuned!
  • Education: Our arts education programs will continue to serve youth and families in Tacoma and throughout the South Sound. This summer, you will find TAL Teaching Artists in summer camps with Clover Park School District, Tacoma Housing Authority, Tacoma’s Summer Teen Late Nights, and even camps at the armory.   • Grit City Championship Wrestling: Grit City MELTDOWN is scheduled for August 1 – buy your tickets today! We are working with our partner, Diafullah Dobashi, to schedule more events.
  • Skate the Armory: TAL is working to add additional Sunday skate dates through the rest of 2026. We will update the events page when we have more information.

Skating at the Armory

Yes! We offer multiple Sunday sessions each month, and a family cheap-skate every Wednesday.

Yes! Rental skates are available at all of our public skating sessions with an additional fee. Please note, limited sizes are available, please check with our rental counter before purchasing rentals.

No, we do not offer party packages at this time, however we do have a party table available for rental. Please visit our Zeffy page for full details on party table rentals.

Yes, this may be an option during times the facility is not in use, please email Chris Cooley, skate@tacomaartslive.org to inquire.

Ticketing and Logistics

You can purchase tickets online. We no longer offer in-person Box Office hours.

Tacoma Arts Live does not offer refunds on ticket purchases.

The Box Office opens for will call one hour before most ticketed events.

We encourage you to donate them. After purchasing tickets, if you find you’re unable to attend a Tacoma Arts Live event, you may donate your tickets and receive a tax donation receipt. All donations must be made at least 24 hours before the event.

All bags are subject to search. Patrons may be asked to open their jackets or be checked with a metal detector prior to entering the venue. Tacoma Arts Live will not hold or be responsible for any prohibited items.

Items including, but not limited to the following are not allowed:
  • Alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic beer – including glass bottles or cans
  • Bullhorns, airhorns or other noisemakers
  • Illegal drugs
  • Weapons of any kind, regardless of permit (including but not limited to: firearms, knives, batons, mace, pepper spray, brass knuckles, tasers etc.)

Refreshments are available for purchase prior to any TAL performance and at intermission.
